Youth at Work

Here is an example of unfair treatment at work that may be based on race:

Mary applied for a summer job at a large department store. The store said that it did not hire for summer positions. A few weeks later, however, Mary notices that one of her school friends, who is White, works at the store. Her friend says that she was hired a few days ago to help with the busy summer months. Mary was discriminated against if the store did not hire her because she is Black.
